Boost Your Blogging: The WordPress Plugins You NEED to Have!

A huge thanks to Paul Letourneau of PaulLetourneau.com and Imaguy.ca for the amazing WordPress presentation at BlogWest 2013.

It took me a few hours in between listening to the session that Paul gave at BlogWest today on WordPress and actually writing this summary post because I was so busy updating my backend with several of the plugins he recommended to help you share more effectively, keep your website safe from spam, run more efficiently and more! So without further ado…..

The Top 10 WordPress Plugins you NEED to have right now:

  1. WordPress SEO by Yoast – SEO so good! Great tutorials and updates!
  2. Jetpack – Lots of goodies and features from WordPress.com now available to hosted WordPress.org users
  3. Akismet – Spam, spam go away, don’t come back another day
  4. Genesis eNews Extended (if you are working on the Genesis Framework)
  5. Really Simple Share – Sharing is good! Places simple social sharing buttons below your posts or pages to allow for easy distribution of content
  6. Quick Cache – Cause who doesn’t love a fast plug. One button to switch on – easy peasy.
  7. Related Posts by Category – great little plugin that will keep your users engaged with your website longer by displaying other posts that are related to the category they are currently reading
  8. Simple Social Icons – pretty little social icons for your sidebar
  9. Gravity Forms – sorry peeps, this one isn’t free, but if you use a lot of forms on your site then this is worth the investment
  10. Vaultpress – again, not free but think of the expense in time and energy if your website crashes without a reliable backup!
