Have you ever tried to visit a website that doesn’t use https:// and EEK come across this ominous warning – especially when using Google Chrome?! Well, friends – by the end of 2018 all websites WITHOUT an SSL certificate will show this warning in Google Chrome.
And what is Https:// and SSL? Well according to the geeks at wikipedia – “HTTP Secure (HTTPS) is an extension of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) for secure communication over a computer network, and is widely used on the Internet. In HTTPS, the communication protocol is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS), or formerly, its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). The protocol is therefore also often referred to as HTTP over TLS, or HTTP over SSL.”
All you need to know is that you will need one. And fast. Check with your hosting provider as many include a free SSL certificate with your hosting package. If not, they are relatively inexpensive to purchase.
